Hello! Kia Ora! And Welcome to Fernrose Farm Support!

I'm Jenny, and I grew up in the middle of scrumptious Somerset! After completing a diploma in animal science, I popped over to New Zealand for a 6 month overseas adventure, and just 15 years later (!) I returned to our wonderful West Country and I am now based in Dorset.

After a number of years in New Zealand and Australia working as a veterinary nurse and in various aspects of the equine industry, I stumbled upon my true calling, with dairy cows! I now have over ten years of experience working in different dairy systems in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, with a focus on youngstock health, nutrition, and disease management.

Whether you are part of a family run business, a larger corporate dairy operation, or even have a lifestyle block or small holding, being a part of the agricultural community can be a challenging yet incredibly rewarding lifestyle.

I am on a mission to provide clients with knowledge and management tools to ensure your calves get the kick start they need to meet their genetic potential and become a healthy, productive future member of the herd.

Different calving systems can present different challenges, and sometimes trying to coordinate veterinary advice with data from your nutritionist or farm advisor, while also trying to meet financial budgets can become baffling, and scientific information isn't always easy to understand. S
o, with that in mind, I aim to bridge the gap between land and laboratory and deliver bespoke action plans from a preventative management perspective, so that you can get the best from your animals and enjoy the results of a profitable business.

Dealing with illness in the calf shed can be frustrating, heart breaking, and costly so do get in touch with any problems or concerns you may have. I am here to share my experience and support you with animal health challenges, but also as a sympathetic ear and emotional support through the variety of challenges that modern agriculture is facing.

I also dabble in a little relief milking and calf rearing work, as well as bits and pieces with horses, so if you need an extra pair of hands, do get in touch!

Check out my gallery of pictures from farms I have had the pleasure of working on, and the contact page has all you need to get hold of me.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Jenny
